Posts: 9098 05/10/08 7:54 PM Administrator	As many of you already know, we at NikeTalk donate everything we earn from our advertising above the costs of hosting to charity.� Due to some logistical issues, which I won't bore you with, we haven't announced a donation in awhile, but rest assured we're still actively facilitating charitable contributions and this is the first of over $20,000 in grants we'll be announcing over the coming weeks.� Over the past year, a number of you have expressed an interest in supporting an environmental group and this April, in honor of Earth Day, we donated $5,000 to Green For All, an organization devoted to connecting environmental and social justice by diversifying the environmental movement and utilizing sustainable development to create jobs and lift people out of poverty.� You can learn more about Green for All and their important work by visiting their website:� www.greenforall.org.� Thanks to all those who've supported our advertising for making these donations possible.� You can find a number of Green for All videos on Youtube, but for those with limited patience I've included clips of Van Jones, the organization's founder and president, appearing on "the Colbert Report" and speaking about eco-apartheid.�

Registered Member Posts: 3142 05/11/08 12:20 AM	Been some trying times and I've been away from NT, but had to come and post my respects. I dig this. All of my life I have been pushed to be perfect. It led me to feel as if my actions and life's conditions weren't perfect in every sense of the word, than I was a total failure. However, every time I looked in the mirror, I was reminded of my imperfections. For a while this chiseled away at my soul. I now realize that although I'll never be perfect, if I make the right choices, and accept my limitations, tomorrow, I will be closer to reaching my maximum potential than I am today. I now understand that I can be imperfect, and successful at the same time. For this KNOWLEDGE, I am thankful.

Thanks for helping NT donate over $2,000 to Operation Smile NikeTalk Donates $2,553 to the American Cancer Society Thank You for Helping NT Donate $2,768.60 to JDRF! We also donated $2,907 to Gawad Kalinga and I can't seem to locate Krux's announcement post in our archives, as well as $3,908 to Ettie Lee Homes, though that donation post was lost. In addition to these donations, we have over $20,000 in unnanounced donations that we plan to space out over the next few weeks - so stay tuned.

Visit their page and check out their initiatives. Look at the organizations we've supported overall. UNICEF is internationally oriented, as is Operation Smile. We've donated to the JDRF, the American Cancer Society, and the progress of the medical research they sponsor is obviously of dire importance to people around the world. Gawad Kalinga is based in the Philippines. We haven't made a donation to an locally-oriented organization in California since 2006, when we donated to Ettie Lee Homes. Why Ettie Lee homes? One of our staff members spent some time there during his youth, so it was a very personal cause. Our focus is on the work of an organization, not the physical location of their offices.

These aren't personal donations, so no one on our staff can claim them as tax deductible. I understand the cynicism given all the greed in the sneaker world in particular, but we're not deriving any personal gain from our ad revenue. Everything we generate above hosting costs is donated to charity and no one on our staff claims any tax deductions as a result.

His vision of a "green" jobs corps needed to build the infrastructure of environmental industry - installing solar panels, for instance, which is being driven by high market demand and will thus require a large base of skilled workers has much potential; Stagnant job markets in Oakland can be stimulated by enlarging its industrial capacity to "green" industries, and neighboring San Francisco and Silicon Valley have progressive investors interested in developing in Oakland. I appreciate NikeTalk's donation to the Green For All foundation, which will have a positive effect on my local community, as well as contributing to the current push for sustainable development and economic-industrial innovation in lessening our impact on the environment. What I would like to see the NikeTalk staff consider, perhaps, is a donation at some point towards actual conservation of the environment, whether in the rainforests or as I have suggested a donation to an organization located in any of the regional forums hosted by NT. As an environmentalist, it is always a joy to see the support of any community towards protection of the environment and honor this donation. BOYCOTT CORPORATE CRAP
