Registered User Posts: 13 07/10/08 10:52 AM	Tags : jordan, dmp, grapes, playoff, olympic, carmine, taxi, cdp I plan on keeping my DMP DS atleast for a couple more years.... my concern is that i have it inside a footlocker bag....just sitting in my room.... is there anyhting im suppose to be doing to it, maintnance wise..... or am i going to open my box in a few years to find a disaster....help appreciated...sorry if wrong forum...thanks

Registered User Posts: 183 07/10/08 11:08 AM	silica packets are used to absorb the water vapors that can be found in certain packaging leather goods, beef jerky, guitars, etc. What this means in the short run is that you will prevent your shoes from becoming moist and/or prevent them from molds or bacteria from propogating. In the long run, those silica packets will have absorbed all of the moisture from the leather from sitting inside of the box for so many years untouched. I am pretty sure thats why you have people complaining that when they UNDS one of their old kicks, it falls apart rather quickly, or crumbles so to speak 1999 ///M3

The silica bag was pretty big, and did NOT KNOW that it could SUCK UP ALL THE MOIST, and my patent leather looks dull, and soles were starting to crack with NO WEAR! So i sold for a good $200. Ever since then, i wear ALL my shoes.

After 8 years they are still as ICY as brand new. No silica, and no plastic bags. They have been in my dark closet on the floor all this time. I say as long as your house has AC, and its cool and dark in the closet then you will be fine.

Ive read posts that the gold will leak and stain the upper of the XI's and I kno u don't want that. Im not much of an expert at storin kicks b/c I wear all of my sneakers but I would imagine apart from the extra steps (silca packs, bags, etc.) keep them in a cool, dark, dry place. I like the underdogs, dog, I'm a Hoosiers fan...
