Registered Member Posts: 2402 06/25/08 9:54 AM	Tags : None I've gone through a series of interviews with a small investment banking and brokerage firm that says they have good training and new brokers average between 40-60k a year, but im still somewhat skeptical. The job is also 100% commission with no benefits My fam really doesnt like this. I have to sign paperwork n stuff Friday if I wanna do it. I'm either about to make a really good decision or a really bad decision any thoughts NT? Team DC/MD/VA OG MEMBER #2 Windows aint the only thing tinted _s is too...

It's basically like being a car salesmen but for investments. Realistically you'd be hard pressed to even make 35k. Did they ask you to talk to friends and relatives and convince them to invest? Also if you do want to go the stock broker route you may want to look into Fidelity (Tysons) Charles Schwab (Alexandria/Old Town) there's a Merril Lynch across the street and a Citi Smith Barney (I would guess there would be a high probability of layoffs at Citi). Or Wachovia Securities (near Tysons or Fairfax I forget). Wachovia may only be hiring interns at the moment (paid). It's a Ponzi scheme for the higher level managers. You bring people in, they make money off of that and throw you some crumbs. You don't even begin to make decent pay until you reach a certain number of clients (which take 1-2 years) and most people leave by then. It's hard surviving on 15k a year. Meanwhile management has already made good money off of the people you already brought in. That's not even accounting for the fact that they push you to sell certain investments to individuals that those individuals should never acquire.
