I don't see this stubbornness or "disrespect" from Federer at all. He's always praised his opponents, has never mentioned anything negative
about them nor has he displayed any air of superiority that has taken anything away from his opponents. He's always been fairly humble and tried to keep
things relatively low key despite his accomplishments and the media putting him on the spot. Totally disagree.

Federer never celebrates on court or talks on court. I didnt hear what he said after the match today but he always congradulates his opponents first. Also, he obviously didnt play his best and said at the Austrailian Open that he loved to play with Andy Roddick because is such a good guy. |

He praises his opponents, so he couldn't possibly be disrespectful?
Everybody in tennis does that. The players meet at the net, and if it is a grand slam, the two will be interviewed and acknowledge each other. Federer is status quo with that. So? That doesn't mean anything at all. |

He never really comes off as intelligent or respectful because he rubs you the wrong way? That doesn't mean anything at all.

Yeah, I can definitely agree that some of the words Roger uses to his opponents and about his matches are borderline arrogant.
Still, there's still a high respect for Fed and if legends like Pete, Rod, Bjorn and Mac say he's a great champion and a classy guy, it's hard to contend with them.

I don't think I've ever felt as bad for an athlete as I do Andy Roddick. Whether it's his undoing or simply being born in the wrong era, his entire
career has been "close, but not quite". I'm not even much of a fan of tennis either...

I agree with KLJ. Especially after that loss to Nadal at the Australian Open. As far as i'm concerned Fed's "respect" towards other players
is fake and contrived. I'd respect him more if he would just come out and say "+!@* it I hate everyone on the tour and ain't nobody compared to
me".
At first, I thought it was just Federer's interviews getting "lost in translation"......but the more he talks the more he sounds unintelligent and arrogant.
