TRADE DEADLINE UPDATE
Cavs In On Shaq
The Cavaliers have offered Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic to the Suns for Shaquille O'Neal, according to sources close to Brian
Windhorst.
Such a trade works under the salary cap rules but would not, by itself, bring the Suns below the luxury tax threshold this year or next.
According to ESPN, this deal has been discussed but is a long ways away from being completed and is described as unlikely.

Breaking News: Thunder Rescind Chandler Trade
The Hornets and Thunder agreed to a trade that sent Tyson Chandler to Oklahoma City in exchange for Joe Smith, Chris Wilcox and DeVon
Hardin.
One day later, the four players will be going back to their original teams.
Thunder Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti announced in a press release on Wednesday evening that the team has rescinded its trade with the Hornets for Chandler.
"We were pleased to add Tyson to the Thunder roster," said Presti. "During the course of the physical examination and outside consultations some questions arose that gave us cause for concern. We felt that this course of action was the best for our organization."
Rescinding trades in the NBA is a very rare occurrence. During the summer of 2005, the Nets and Blazers agreed on a trade that sent Shareef Abdur-Rahim to New Jersey, but it was rescinded following a physical examination.
The Cavaliers rescinded a trade involving Mateen Cleaves in a deal with Sacramento in 2002 and they also rescinded a deal for Victor Alexander with the Raptors in 1995.

Bulls, Kings, Blazers Trade Now Official
The Chicago Bulls announced today that the team has acquired center/forward Brad Miller and guard/forward John Salmons from the Sacramento Kings
for forward Andrés Nocioni, forward/center Drew Gooden, and forward Cedric Simmons.
As part of the same trade Michael Ruffin was sent to the Portland Trail Blazers, while forward Ike Diogu goes to Sacramento. With this deal, Chicago's roster now stands at 12.
"When we signed Andrés in 2004, he brought a toughness to our basketball team. He's been a warrior, and a professional, since the day that he arrived. He has been one of my favorites to ever wear a Bulls uniform; and personally, it was difficult for me to move him," said John Paxson, Bulls Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations. "Drew played really well for us in the short time that he was here. It's a tough part of the business when you are traded, and Drew has been traded a few times now, and that is never easy." "Brad Miller is a skilled big man, who we feel will fit into many of the things that we run offensively. He is a good shooter and passer, and has a natural feel for how to play the game. We feel that he will be a good complement to Joakim, Tyrus and Aaron on our front line," added Paxson. "John Salmons will bring us tremendous versatility in the backcourt, and at the small forward position. He has good size and length, and has shown the ability to score this year. We feel he's one of the most improved players in the league at this point of the season."

Knicks And Bulls In Trade Talks
The Knicks and Bulls are discussing a trade for Larry Hughes with the Knicks offering Malik Rose's expiring contract. Another player,
perhaps Jerome James, would have to be sent to Chicago to make the deal work. Hughes' contract runs through the 2009-2010 season.
Nate Robinson might be included in the deal and David Lee's name has been mentioned as well. Lee's inclusion would mean Tyrus Thomas or Joakim Noah, whose game Donnie Walsh likes, would be sent to New York.
The Knick front office is split on whether to retain Lee as a restricted free-agent this summer. Some feel he has already hit his ceiling.

Thunder reject Chandler, trade off
The New Orleans Hornets decided to trade Tyson Chandler to clear some cap space and add depth to the frontcourt. They'll have to go back to the drawing board.
The Oklahoma City Thunder did not medically clear the center on Wednesday and therefore rescinded the trade. Chandler would have gone to the Thunder for forwards Chris Wilcox, Joe Smith second-round pick DeVon Hardin.
"We welcome Tyson back with open arms," Hornets general manager Jeff Bower said in a statement. "We went into this trade to garner more frontcourt depth to add to our team as we continue our push towards the playoffs. We expect Tyson and the rest of our big guys to step up to the challenge."
No specific reason was given as to why Chandler didn't pass the physical, but he missed the Hornets' last 12 games before the All-Star break because of a sprained left ankle.
"We were pleased to add Tyson to the Thunder roster," general manager Sam Presti said. "During the course of the physical examination and outside consultations some questions arose that gave us cause for concern. We felt that this course of action was the best for our organization."
New Orleans players had been distraught about the trade Tuesday, questioning it as a decision brought on because of the team's desire to stay below the salary cap instead of as a way to improve the roster. Chandler is due to make about $12 million next season.
All-Star forward David West called it a business decision instead of a basketball decision, and said it "leaves a big question mark in the middle" for New Orleans.
Chandler had been a big part of the turnaround that landed the Hornets the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference last year, when they pushed San Antonio to Game 7 in the conference semifinals. He averaged a double-double with 11.8 points and 11.8 rebounds and had more than 100 alley-oop dunks off of lobs from All-Star point guard Chris Paul.
His numbers were down a little, to 8.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game this season as he missed 18 games due to injury.
"I think a lot of that is because of the injuries that he's suffered this season," Hornets coach Byron Scott said after the trade. "The first couple games of the season, he was playing really well. Then he hurt his ankle. He came back, he was playing pretty good again, and then his neck was hurt.
"So he's had a series of injuries this season that have really stunted his progress, unfortunately. I don't think it's so much that he's changed as a basketball player. I think it's that he's had some unfortunate circumstances."

Mihm's $2.5 contract expires after this season.
The Grizzlies are likely to consummate one or two more financial-related trades between now and the league's trade deadline Thursday at 2 p.m.

The
Portland Trail Blazers are once again chasing Knick forward David Lee, but according to Marc Berman of the New York Post the only way Donnie Walsh will part
ways with Lee is if the receiving team takes on Eddy Curry too.
"I'm not worried about that. Whatever happens, happens," Lee said. "Hopefully I'll be here, but I have no way of controlling that."

Cavs Ready To Spend Due To Fear Of Losing LeBron?
The
Cavaliers are offering Wally Szczerbiak and his $13 million expiring contract to the Wizards for Antawn Jamison, sources told Yahoo.
"Money is no object for Cleveland right now," one Eastern Conference executive said. "They're willing to spend what it takes to win a title. They understand that this is just pennies compared to the hit they would take losing LeBron [James]."
Cleveland has also expressed interest in Amare Stoudemire.

Wizards Won't Trade Jamison, Butler?
Numerous teams have called the Wizards about forwards Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler, but team president Ernie Grunfeld isn't interested in
a salary dump.
Washington could stand pat, despite the interest in the former All-Star forwards.
The Cavaliers have reportedly offered Wally Szczerbiak and his $13.8 million expiring contract in separate offers, while the Blazers have interest in Butler.
"You can't always be in charge of names that come up, but let me ask you something: If you were one of the other 29 teams in the league, who would you ask for?" interim coach Ed Tapscott said. "You'd ask for Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler. So we can't be in charge of who people ask for. All we can do is say yes or no. My belief is that people are inquiring and as far as I know, the answer is no. We believe in the core of this team, we know why we are where we are. We just don't have healthy bodies."

There have been consistent rumors that the Raptors have had talks with teams about trading Chris Bosh, but general manager Bryan Colangelo is
vehemently denying such rumors.
"We have not had any discussions with regard to trading Chris Bosh," Colangelo said.

"If I can be very clear here, there is no truth to that," Colangelo said.
