Registered Member Posts: 361 08/14/08 10:29 AM	Tags : None Hey guys looking for some opinions on some cleats for this upcoming football season. Im looking at the Nike Super Speed D 3/4 and the Nike Vapor Jet 4.2 I havent had a low top pair and was hoping for some input on comfort, ankle support, and cushioning. If it helps any I play receiver/DB at a juco. They are both light I have just never had low top cleats and was hoping to hear pro's and con's. Any help is appreciated

Registered User Posts: 29 08/14/08 1:02 PM	I used to be a WR/CB..........go low-cut for sure....that said, wear ankle braces (I used to wear the sock-like ones that you lace up) or tape your ankles with the low-cuts......mid-cuts and 3/4 cuts are too stiffling for us skill guys who need to make sharp cuts.

You'll be fine until you sprain your ankle. Then it won't really feel 100% for the rest of the season and you'll be forced to wear huge bulky ankle braces, along with tape, plus icing after every game/practice and at night. Registered Member Posts: 11 08/14/08 4:20 PM	For 125 them Vapors gotta be the truth. I tried on the super speed's the other day...comfort was a problem. It's not a flat shoe; it follows the contours of ya foot, so that inside part of ya foot is sitting on a hump. I thought maybe it was the size...so I ran through a couple more sizes and same %$+*. I had the molded Veer D's a couple years back and that inside part of my foot would catch cramps ...not trying to feel that again. I was gonna cop LT's sig' cleat (basketball shoe fit and lighter than they look)...but then i changed my mind and cop'd the old super speeds(patent leather shoe tip) from 2 seasons ago - from some mom and pop shop that had some football cleat gems (2k6 Huaraches)...too bad they aint have my size . On a side note, the Super Bad 2's are good too. They're light and that shoe just hugs every inch of ya foot.

Registered Member Posts: 12 08/14/08 4:32 PM	I've never ran around in low cut cleats (it feels weird not having anything over your ankle), do u really get a sense of being faster, more agile in them compared to a mid cut? or is it all in ya head? Am I missing out on something?

Registered Member Posts: 367 08/14/08 5:58 PM	a few guys on my team wear low cuts with no tape(i just asked today) but come to find out they said they do get ankle sprains just more of a twist so you can deal with it. I see what your saying though. i tried on the super speed 3/4 today and I agree wth dude they feel funny and I wear a 10.5 - 11 and had to go with the 11.5. I cant do those LT's they are just to bulky. I may have to try them though because I have been getting shin splints real bad these last few seasons. And I think it is from the narrowness of the super speed's from last year. Im in the middle on this one May have to go with the super speeds 3/4 and deal with the splints. I cant rock ankle braces they are to uncomfortable
