If that's what they want in life, I see no problem.
Even if they don't like what they do for a living, they probably want to feel secure with the amount of money they have and avoid any future situations of money ever being an issue, along with other possible reasons.
Personally, I'd rather have a job that I don't like and feel secure with my salary than to have a job that I enjoy making an average amount of money.
That's the bottom line. You can always use a high paying job as a means to an end. Invest your capital in stocks, a new business, property, or something you do like.
