Wayne never started any trends? if you string along his fake gang affiliations, his drug addictions, his flirtation with homosexuality, his gaudiness then I dont think you get anything intriguing or inspiring.. nothing you cant see from someone on most street corners

a natural high is appreciated. and I dont find it senseless, I'm just saying it works as a whole (not always literal word for word)

im from houston and i think that s.u.c !!% is garbage. most people my age from houston know more from lil flip and slim thug than they do with scarface

and just like ny always hates in other regions, southern fans definitely used to hate on the east. u got people down here saying z-ro>>>biggie

The only difference is that Lil' Wayne isn't as popular amongst elitists. Wayne is just as "abstract" as Wu-Tang based on your definition, but you just value Wu more. It's okay for "insert Wu member here" to go on a nonsensical tangent because somehow they are above the integrity of coherence. It's cool when they ramble... just like it's cool when they make a song like C.R.E.A.M....ok. It's cool for GFK to rap about chess, wallabees, and kung-fu flicks. However, it isn't cool for Wayne to tell us his favorite movie was the gremlins or "Phone Home" from Mars. Where's the line again? Why, when Wayne does a "Blowing up Fast", "Miss My Dawgs", "Dr. Carter", etc etc etc, do we all of a sudden pretend like his lyrical ability JUST surfaced?? Cats act like Lil Wayne ain't got several classic songs. His pure skill is pretty astounding, when he's focused that is.

But I would NEVER expect a hater like illscan to give him his credit anyway.

1. None of us have enough info on his life to confirm or disprove his affiliations, and I'm not even defending that crap. I'm just being real...
2. Drug addiction huh? Gimme a break fam... like that's a new trend in the music biz. And you're defending WU-TANG with THIS logic???

3. His sexuality is neither here nor there in regards to his music. And using his sexuality to grade his musical prowess is a very childish attempt at hating.
4. Like Biggie....or Jay-Z....or...wait, PICK ANY RAPPER with a lucrative career..... I'll wait. Even Reverend Run had a dookie rope and some fresh Adidas...

I dont undertand why people can just respect what Wu has done, just like people respect what Geto Boys and Outkast have done. You dont have to rock with everyday but at least respect it.

The difference between Wu & Wayne in my minds eye is the intent.
I just see a diff sense of responsibility with how they approach their craft.
Wu zones out & sometimes you can't feel them. Whereas Wayne slacks off, gets on some BS & you're supposed to accept his laziness as a zone. You understand????

As high and unfocused as Wayne gets, you can't tell me he doesn't love his craft. I DON'T accept his laziness. He IS slacking. However, he does drop gems still...here and there. And people want to discredit his gems because of the abundance of basura surrounding them lately. Yet, when he WAS consistently dropping AMAZING stuff at the age of NINETEEN....which album sold? Who appreciated it? Not many. That isn't fair at all.
