he really thinks cutting off ~2.5 million a year is gonna allow the team to add pieces? like Gary Payton/Mike Finley/Damon Stoudamire pieces?

Washington is a dumb organization...I like the signing, but come on they kept 32 year old Jamison? They could have signed Elton Brand with the Jamison money.

I don't wanna be one of those players and three years down the road your team is strapped and can't do anything about it."someone should have kicked that into KG's head years ago. instead he did nothing and finally took the easy way out and accepted the david stern 4 step championship package.. Well, this is the NBA, where dude's like Reshard Lewis get 120 million dollar contracts.
I'll say that the contract isn't the best, I'll happily admit that. But, it's nothing compared to some of the recent overpriced stars like Stephon Marbury, Michael Finley, Ben Wallace, Steve Francis'. And LamarOwnsem, I'm with you man, I'd like to keep all news/rumors in one place, but people like to have their own little area to talk about specifics. It doesn't bother me as much if it's actual news, and not just a rumor. |

imINchucks5 wrote: Sports fans have short-term memory, it's a shame. Now let me say, I'm not saying CP3 is better than Arenas, and I'm not saying Arenas is better than CP3, but fact is they're two different types
of PG's. Gilbert lit up the league with 30/6 (in reality it's 28/6 and 29/6, but it's close enough to round up IMO), and lead this team into the
Playoffs. This guy has been putting up good numbers for a while now. There were just as many talks (if not more) that Gilbert could be the MVP of the League a
year/two ago. IMO, Gilbert had a stronger case because he could take over games by himself, not relying on his teammates to make shots (not saying that CP3
does, but Gilbert had the confidence in himself), and putting the team on his back. Injuries really have plagued this Wizards team, none of them have been
fully healthy and playing big minutes for a long time, and it's going to be interesting to see how they do this year, hopefully being healthy.
EDIT: And just to make it clear, CP3 is only making 1.5 million less than Gilbert, His deal is 2 years shorter, so it makes a huge difference.

JapanAir21 wrote: Yeah, superior and inferior ones. CP3 > Arenas. You don't know basketball if you would take Gilbert over Paul to run your team. CP3 creates good shots for everyone around him. Gilbert takes bad shots himself and doesn't create anything for anyone else. Arenas is a perfect example of your typical 00s bling era high PPG, high FGA, high TO, low FG%, low 3PT% player that doesn't do much but score. Paul, on the other hand, was sent here to remind kids how the point guard position is supposed to be played. And even though he's been in the league for fewer years, he has led his team to a better record and advanced deeper in the playoffs than Arenas. |
